I'm 55 yrs old, barely 5'1", have worn size 3 all my life with little to no exercise (a blessing)... but just the past 8 months have gained weight (13 lbs) and can only fit into a size 8... size 7 if I jump around. My thighs have always been the biggest part of my body but now my stomach looks 5 months pregnant. All the weight is in my butt, thighs and belly. I even began exercising 5 months ago and eat much healthier but keep gaining. Is it because of my age or could there be something else going on? Please, if anyone has advice I'd love to hear it....

Hi,
The same thing has happened to me and I'm 46, I went to the doctors and she had blood work drawn , this has been about a year ago, and received a phone call from her office and they said I was going through menopause, I am very very active due to my job, and my stomach is always popping out, this has me so dispressed, they won't give me hormone pills because they said their causing cancer

Wow... no hormones? My friend is prescribed ESTROGel 0.06% (estradiol gel) that she rubs 2 pumps onto her arms. She says, "do the research... hormones can increase the chance of breast cancer 2-4% so if you have family history of breast cancer then that's something to weigh out. But on the other hand, taking hormones can decrease the chance of having a heart attack by 10% so if you have family history of heart problems then this is something to consider." Just some ideas to possibly help... and you can always get a second opinion from another doctor, hopefully. I personally take antidepressants so that's something to consider too. I'm definitely not trying to push taking pills to fix problems but hormonal imbalance and chemical imbalance are REAL and have to have someway to get them balanced. You can always look into herbal supplements because they do work for a lot of people.
